The Check Up is a fun but important book for children living with sickle cell or with a loved one with sickle cell. I brought this book for my Godchildren and they loved the rhyming words and colourful pictures and they also understood why their Godmother sometimes has to go to the hospital. This book is relatable to any child with a chronic condition. Overall Amazing!

After reading the first book, I most certainly had to buy the second one and any more to come. I love the educational side to the book, being a carrier of Sickle cell and having one child who is also a carrier and two who aren’t, I thought it was important to educate all of my children on the importance of Sickle cell. Fantastic read, I usually sit and listen to my 6 year old reading it to me, that’s when she’s not acting it out.
