Theme for World Sickle Cell Day 2022
Our World Sickle Cell Day 2022 Theme Has Been Announced!
HAVING A THEME FOR 2022
Having observed and acknowledged the value of community efforts and the power that we have in numbers, this years theme announcement for World Sickle Cell Day is an opportunity for everyone to contribute on a global level. This year, we want to change the records of past world sickle cell days being an individual effort. Instead, we want to encourage charities, businesses, advocates, warriors and everyone in support of sickle cell to come together as a stronger force, in order to create as much impact as possible.
Be BOLD…
If there’s one thing about sickle cell charities, patient groups and advocates, it is our willingness to do all that we can, with what we have. Despite the funding disparities between sickle cell and other less common genetic disorders, we continue to be impudent in our efforts to fight for change and equality. This year, we want to celebrate and motivate everyone to be bold and fearless with their World Sickle Cell Day celebrations.
Be LOUD…
This past year, sickle cell has been highlighted more than ever. From the positive announcements of new treatments to the parliamentary inquiry into the avoidable deaths and failures of care for sickle cell patients. Even with these media moments, there is still a huge lack of education and awareness in the wider community.
#ChangeTheRecords
With this years theme, we want to encourage you all to be BOLD and be LOUD in the activities that you do. Share them with us so we can help to amplify them and highlight our great community actions instead of waiting for media re-actions. And where possible, CHANGE THE RECORDS by extending our efforts to surpass just one day of celebrations.
