1 YEAR OF MY FRIEND JEN

“WOW!! It’s been a whole year since the first self published My Friend Jen book was released; and what a year it has been. As crazy as this may sound, i only thought as far ahead as writing this book and getting it out there for others to read so i could create more awareness of sickle cell. I did not think about anything after the release of the book; i didn’t even have book launch.

I think it’s fair to say that i underestimated the unbelievable year that would follow after the release of ‘A Little Different’. So much so that i had to make the decision to put the next book in the series on hold, in order to fulfil the purpose i believe was given to the first book.

This past year i have come to realise that this journey has been less about me writing a book, and more about me being able to help others and give back in the many ways that i have.

Travelling to Gambia & Nigeria to meet others living with sickle cell.

Speaking at some amazing events about health, motivation and my journey.

I AM PHENOMINAL – BIRMINGHAM’s #1 MOTIVATIONAL EVENT

AFROFLUX – BSIDE FESTIVAL 2017

Encouraging more people to become regular donors and give blood, which will help people living with conditions such as sickle cell.

UNITED SICKLERS FIRST ANNUAL BLOOD DONATION DAY

And even becoming a writing & publishing coach for other amazing writers so their stories can also be heard; the past 12 months have just been unimaginable!

To top it off, I have also been nominated for the BEXLIVE Author Of Colour 2017 Award  (VOTE JENICA LEAH) lol.

With all that being said and with everything else that has been achieved in just one year, i would like to thank each and every individual who has supported My Friend Jen and myself thus far; a lot would not have been possible without you.

I wont say too much, but you can expect even more to come over the next year…including the second book in the series and a whole lot more.

I hope the love and support continues over the coming years, as we continue to step forward into growth.”
